Located in the Siam society, the museum holds many of the old story of Thailand. in which there are various kinds of products agrikulutural and domestic objects or objects of everyday society long. Functioned to preserve the history, its architecture is very original Thailand, namely the traditional Lanna, and such a house style has been around since 700 years ago. After two years of work takes the Asia Foundation and funded by John D Rockefeller Foundation, finally opened officially on November 21, 1966 by King Bhumipol Adulyadej.
Lanna kingdom was once an 13th-century and located in the vicinity north of Thailand. The first king who lead this area is King Mengrai in 1259. King formed the capital of Chiang Mai in 1291. In 1550, Chiang Mai was colonized by Burmese troops and successfully captured by King Taksin in 1774 and became part of Thailand until the reign of King Rama V. Siam Society was commissioned to preserve the culture, teaching, and served on wildlife.
Inside one of the wooden houses that are here, now converted into a museum which is considered as a rare heritage, exhibiting a wide range of daily necessities during the previous Siamese society. For example, fish, pots, amulets to citizens crafts objects of antiquity. That said, at the houses in this area, guarded by the ghosts of three young women who are always watching to deep house.
Not only that, visitors can also see a green park stretching in front of him, really typical Lanna era. There is also a library in which a good collection, ranging from rare books related to the history of Thailand, the ancient manuscripts written on leaves, until the old folders. Unfortunately, all the books in this collection may only be borrowed by the Siamese, while the general public and tourists can only see and read on the spot. And is allowed to enter are those who have already signed up to become a member at a cost of 3.500 baht per year or approximately $ 1,000,000 per year. Not only can enter the library, but members will also get the opportunity to attend classes to learn Thai culture and discuss a wide range of books that were there. This class is open every Thursday night at 19:30 and the instructors are Siamese society itself.
