DIAN YANG TAK KUNJUNG PADAM

This story is written by Sutan Takdir Alisjahbana, at firstly it is published by PN Balai Pustaka in 1932. It happens before 1932. In my opinion, this story, first here is a brief summary of the book, oneday Yasin was a poor fatherless man, he meets a beautiful girl, she is the daugther of noble in Palembang, her name is Molek. Molek sits in frout of her house, she falls in love to Yasin, in the first seeing.

Molek and Yasin fall in love each of them, but their loving may bot be one, because it is the different of social status. Molek and Yasin realize it, Although the have the different of social status, that isn’t matter for them to love each of them, because of that their loving go on in letter.

In this story, Molek can’t lie her heart to love Yasin, their loving is done in secretly. In this story, I see Yasin is a gentleman because he says to this mother and his relationship to ask for the daughter of noble. Yasin’s mother and his family meet to discuss about Yasin’s planning to ask for the daughter of noble.

In marriage, she is Molek in simplicity, the ask for molek in marriage to meet Molek’s parent but her parents don’t receive it. Yasin’s mother doesn’t want to fail her son’s spirit. Yasin’s mother and his family visit molek’s parent to ask for in marriage, but their planning is failed. Molek’s parents are materialistic. Molek’s parents are arrogant person because Molek’s parents cant’t receive so to insult Yasin’s mother and his family in their visiting.

Molek’s parents are materialistic because Sayid is an old rich man, he come from Arabian, his planning to ask for in marriage, but Molek can’t receive it but Molek’s parents get it to go on. The life of getting in marriage isn’t happy to Molek because she doesn’t love Sayid, Molek can’t lie by her hearth to love Yasin.

Molek understand Sayid’s character that he gets married with Molek to see her father’s wealth, and  Sayid’s treatment in cruedly, Molek tells her sadness, confunsion and her longing to Yasin by letter, when Yasim know his darling to go on life in sadness, so Yasin’s longing to love Molek. Yasin is a gentleman and he is sure to this heart that Molek is a loyal woman although she gets married with sayid to be forced by her parents.

So, Yasin tries to meet Molek in Palembang.

At the end, Yasin makes a trick to be in disguishe a seller of pineaple but Yasin’s visiting is the end of their meeting, Molek dies because she hid herselft  by longing for Yasin so that Yasin’s darling dies, he comes back to his village. So Yasin’s mother dies, all of his calamity, he does to live in slope of semeru maintain in lonely, Yasin is a brave, loyal man, he doesn’t love love another woman, so in semeru mountain Yasin dies on there. This story forbidden love, so at the end, Molek and Yasin torture their self each of them to choose be died. Dian tak kunjung padam of story to show upper class and down class in society, so we show traditional in culture to make the different of status.
